On Monday 19th June 2023 Downside had a fantastic Field Day for CCF pupils.
Navy cadets had a great time at Saltford Lake canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Meanwhile back at Downside, the army cadets were given a full day’s training under the tutelage of Major Tom Shorland Ball (R05) and soldiers from the Royal Dragoon Guards, based in Warminster. Cadets were introduced to a series of different skills and training including archery, cam and concealment, basha building, weapon handling, observation and blindman teambuilding. The RDG also brought a Panther with remote weapon system for the cadets to test out. The day finished with the cadets coming together for a CCF Promotions Parade and contingent barbeque.
Downside would like to extend a huge thank you to the Royal Dragoon Guards for their time, and for sharing their expertise with our cadets.
