During the summer the school donated a number of books to Watamu Primary School in Kenya.

The school, like many in Africa was desperately short of materials to teach from. In fact around 60 million students in Africa have no access to books.

The Downside library prefects and monitor helped to organise a Mufti World Book Day, and the money raised is being used to help transport the books to Kenya. Staff and pupils recently presented a cheque to Somer Valley Rotary for £313.81 and the books are now on their way to the final destination.
