Downside Schools Benedictine Friends of Manquehue Reunion 2024

On Sunday, November 17th, 2024, the first-ever reunion bringing together alumni from multiple Benedictine schools was held. The event was centred around celebrating years of friendship fostered by the Manquehue movement and emphasising the ongoing connections between Benedictine School alumni and their shared faith.

Attendees included Old Gregorians, Old Amplefordians, and Old Worthians. Key highlights included a shared Lectio Divina session led by Mary Hirst (OA), Benedictine Schools Formation Coordinator, and a mass celebration at 4PM. Fr Leo and Dom James travelled from Buckfast Abbey for the event. We were honoured by Jose Manuel, founder of Manquehue and Jonathan Perry (OA) the current Responsable for the movement.

Elena McFarlane (I13) introduced plans for future gatherings and spiritual activities for the Benedictine alumni community. If you were unable to attend and would like to share thoughts or ideas, please reach out to elena.mcfarlane@gmail.com or oldgregorians@downside.co.uk.
