A STRONG START TO SPORT FOR THE LENT TERM
The first weekend of the Lent Term saw some strong performances across Hockey, Netball, Football and Cross Country.
The Netball 1st VIIs, 2nd VIIs, U14As and U14Bs all won their games against Warminster School. In Hockey, the Downside U14As and U14Bs also one won their matches 10-0 and 4-0, respectively, against Warminster School. Downside hosted the Cross Country Season Opener, with a newly-crafted course allowing spectators great views of the runners, thanks to the Grounds Staff.
Today saw the Netball 1st VIIs take on Colston’s School. The Downside team had a great match, winning 34-27. Also this afternoon the Hockey U14As and U14Bs played against Wells Cathedral School. Confident performances throughout saw Downside win 4-1 and 1-0 respectively. Positive attitude, work rate and effort have been the key principles in the early stages of the season and, given that the boys and coaching staff have only had two training sessions together, these recent performances bode very well for the season ahead.
