Congratulations to our table tennis players who were successful in their first competitive fixture last Saturday at home against King’s Bruton.

From London, team captain: ‘Some players are fairly new to the Downside team, however, they have learnt how to manoeuvre quickly with the bat and have been avidly practicing, along with the rest of the team, which no doubt helped with our success on the day. The matches were intense; everyone was well focused and displayed great sportsmanship. All the Downside players were persistent and showed no hint of arrogance upon success. They always shook hands afterward and showed gratitude towards their opponent.

The players were supported by other non-playing members of the team as well as pupils from around the School, serving as a great source of motivation for the players.’

Final score: 26-12 to Downside.

Well done to all our players and thank you to King’s Bruton for travelling to Downside.
