Future Projects
Our commitment to providing a proper boarding and day school education is undiminished and the ISI inspectors observed in 2018 that pupils ‘develop strongly as individuals, enabled by the very high levels of pastoral care’ and that ‘different activities, such as drama, or running a fashion show, play an important role in developing their confidence.’
Those of us who have been lucky enough to experience such an education know this to be true however, affordability is a key question for today’s parents and in order to maintain diversity among our pupil cohort our most pressing project is to raise funds for bursaries.
Downside School has an ambitious business plan to maintain its position. Far from entering the ‘Arms Race for facilities’ our plans focus on the outcomes for pupils and the adults they will become.
- We plan to improve teaching and learning and invest wisely in facilities and resources to become the best Catholic co-educational boarding and day school in the country
- We plan to provide access to our educational resources regardless of means by the provision of bursaries
