St Luke Community
Jesus Christ’s heart speaks to us through prayer, liturgy, and the sacraments. Because we encounter the real presence of Jesus at every Mass, the Eucharistic celebration is the source and summit of the Christian life (CCC 1324). The St Luke Community meets weekly to meditate upon the gospel reading for Sunday Mass. The members’ prayerful response helps the priest chaplain with ideas that would guide the school community to meet Christ’s heart through the homily.
The St Luke Community is composed of a representative from each house, the head servers, and the pupil serving as Head of Chaplaincy. The priest chaplain meets with them regularly for Lectio, and to make the practical arrangements for the celebration of Mass and other liturgical celebrations. It is good that there is a member of the St Luke Community in every house calling pupils to service, be it through altar-serving or through the ministry of the word. St Luke’s members serve as house representatives, reaching out to encourage participation in house Masses, morning and evening house prayers, Aid to the Church in Need’s annual #RedWednesday in November and the Lent and Advent ‘Nightfever’ event in the Old Chapel.
