Sporting wins start the year on a high!
Our sports teams are having a good start to the academic year, and last weekend we were pleased to note several strong performances against the local competition.
Our rugby players reported some very impressive wins against Monkton Combe:
1st XV (Away) Won 41-10
U16 XV (Away) Won 42-5
U15 XV (Home) Won 34-5
U14 XV (Home) Won 71-26
Mr Baxter remarked that the 1st XV played with ‘ambition and good spirit’, naming Milo Wilson-Chalon (vice captain) as the man of the match; Mr Barrow, meanwhile, described the U16 match as a ‘feast of running rugby’ and highlighted performances by Gregor Gaggero and Rodrigo Tari.
As well as the announcement last week that Third Form sports scholars, Madeleine Jones and Maria Dolman, had been selected into the U14 Avon JAC hockey programme, we have this week learnt that Gabriella Strachwitz-Hamilton has been selected into the U16 Avon JAC hockey programme as well.
Maria Dolman has also been successful in selection into the Team Bath Netball Junior Academy – a remarkable double!
If you’re a budding sports star, come and visit Downside at one of our forthcoming Open Days… we have a Sixth Form day on 14th October, and a general 11-18 Open Day on 4th November.
