Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this finds you all safe and well and you are managing to spend with time your families away from the glare of a computer screen. As the advice from the UK Government has moved on we have been able to plan in earnest for the reopening of Downside in September.

There will be a number of changes needed in the day-to-day running of the School, to ensure the safety of the whole school community, but we are confident that these changes will enable us to welcome pupils to the School site to begin the new academic year with as little disruption as possible to the ‘normal’ way of school life.

The first of the arrangements for Michaelmas Term is a phased return of pupils over two days. We thought it was important for you to receive this information as early as possible in order to plan the end of the summer break and any travel that you may need to book.

Please see below for the exact dates and times by year group:

We will be sending out further communications with details of what to expect upon return, including videos to aid your planning, over the course of the next month.

Quarantine Arrangements:
We are pleased to announce that Downside will be opening one of our boarding houses from 23rd August to help support those students and families affected by the Coronavirus situation and the UK 14-day quarantine requirements. Pupils will be staying in Plunkett House and they will eat in the House and have limited access to the facilities available at Downside whilst in isolation. If you would like to book onto this, please complete this form:

As ever if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact with us:

Warmest regards,
Andrew Hobbs
