Downside School Performing Arts Centre Plans
The new Performing Arts Centre opened in January 2017 and is the latest capital project to be developed at Downside.
The 1960s Theatre Building was completely re-furbished to create a plush performance space with modern technology, new acoustic linings and plush seats. Wrapped around the auditorium are bright new individual classrooms for music which can double as dressing rooms for school productions. Teaching spaces under Caverel have been incorporated into the new music school and boast a music technology suite and a recording studio.
Over the last ten years the Allan Bath has been restored, the Sports Hall refurbished, a new faculty created for Art and Design and much more as detailed in the images below. The Abbey Church has had much of its fabric replaced and the Monastery Library is now open to the public with a new online catalogue.
