New Pop Up Exhibition

As part of Downside Archive and Library’s ongoing Heritage projects, we are excited to announce the opening of our latest pop up exhibition!

The exhibition examines the many intriguing literary connections that Downside and its monks have had over the years. On display are letters from some famous names in literature including Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan-Doyle, Alfred Tennyson, Henry James and Evelyn Waugh. There are also items of interest relating to Roald Dahl, Hillaire Belloc, Siegfried Sassoon and many more.

The items on display are all from the monastery’s archives and library so if the exhibition whets your appetite we offer tours of the library for just £10 per person. To book a tour email Steve Parsons here.
