We are absolutely delighted to unveil our new History Boards – an illustrated at-a-glance guide to some of the fascinating history of Downside School.

The boards include the founding of the community, the move to England, visits by the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) and Queen Mary, the Old Gym fire and the date the School became co-educational.

The project was started during lockdown by School Librarian Ms Craig who worked with Downside Abbey Outreach Officer Steve Parsons to collate the content. The hope is that the boards will be updated every few years with new additions suggested by the School and wider Downside community.

We look forward to welcoming current and future parents, OGs and their families to Downside to see the boards as part of the School tour.
