Downside Choral Society Perform Mozart’s Requiem to a Full Abbey Church

Downside Choral Society give inaugural performance of Mozart’s Requiem

Downside’s own Schola Cantorum joined the Downside Choral Society (DCS) and were accompanied by the Downside Festival Orchestra (leader Jamie Hughes) and directed by Mr McNamara to perform Mozart’s Requiem on Thursday 30th March. The soloists were Alicia Carroll (soprano), Natalie Manning (contralto), Edmund Hastings (tenor) and Christopher Sheldrake. The atmosphere was electric as the performers brought Mozart’s music to life in the stunning setting of the Abbey Church to an incredibly appreciative audience of parents, staff, OGs and the local community. It will be an evening that will be remembered for many years to come and was particularly poignant for several parents who were part of the DCS alongside their children in the Schola Contorum.

The DCS is made up of around 80 people from the wider Downside community who have been rehearsing every week. If you would like to join the choir, details can be found here.
