First and Second Form pupils, plus some of our Third Formers, took part in a reading initiative this afternoon called Bookbuzz.

Bookbuzz is a reading programme from BookTrust that aims to help schools inspire a love of reading in Year 7 and 8 students. Participating schools give their students the opportunity to choose their own book to take home and keep from a list of 17 titles suitable for 11 to 13-year-olds. They are all carefully selected by a panel of experts to ensure quality, suitability and to encourage reading for pleasure.

Our Deputy Head Master, Mr Mike Randall, presented the books this year, and gave a talk about the power of stories. Two of our Library Prefects also spoke about the wonder of words and what adventures they can take you on, as well as being an essential tool for learning.

The event was rounded off with welcome hot chocolate and bee-themed biscuits, made by our Catering Team.
