Third Form Retreat

Posted on: 21/02/2023

On Wednesday 14th, the Third Form had their annual retreat. Each year the retreat focuses on ‘Building Communion’.

In the morning, each pupil was given a ‘Rule of St Benedict book’ from Mr Hobbs and he spoke to the group about coming together as a community in the analogy of a musical symphony. Anna and Freddie, Heads of School, shared their views on the importance and elements of a strong community. Each of the tutor groups took part in Lectio Divina, which gave them the opportunity to discuss a wider range of topics. The Junior Heads of School had an opportunity to share their thoughts on community living, they showed a video of the life of St Benedict and unpacked Rule 72, The Good Zeal. The morning finished with Mass in the Old Chapel.

In the afternoon, the tutor groups set of to The Church of St. Andrew in Holcombe. Along the way, the group made use of Cafod’s ‘Share the Journey’ resource, reflecting on stories of refugees and praying for them along the way. The last group activity was to visit inside the church, take time to reflect on the Retreat and make their way back to School.
