Over half of the ninety or so pupils in St Oliver’s House are boarders, and life for a boarder is purposeful, well-ordered and fun.

Boys board in Ullathorne House, sharing

small and cheerfully decorated rooms with up to four beds in each. Girls share homely and newly-created accommodation in Ramsay House, with up to six girls in each room.

Boys and girls come together for meals, recreation time, prayers and activities, but retain private areas within their own houses.

Downside is a full boarding school. Most boarders stay in at the weekends and enjoy a packed Sunday activities and outings programme. Pupils in St Oliver’s House have two extended weekend exeats each term, from 2.30 p.m. on Friday up until 8.00 p.m. on Sunday. Pupils either go home or, if their parents are abroad, stay with guardians or friends.
