Pupils to study Computer Science and Coding

Downside pupils are delighted that they are now able to take part in computing classes.  These classes will be part of the Third Form carousel, and will also be available for First and Second Form pupils.  A coding club will be available for pupils, as an additional activity, later in the year.

There has been much in the press about a growing demand for computing lessons, as career options for the young change vastly from those of previous decades. The Department for Education recently reported that computer science GCSE courses had continued to rise quicker than any other subject (BBC News).

Ian Ramsden has been working with the pupils since September as a Teacher of Computing. He has worked in the IT industry for many years as a programmer and support technician, and has been teaching computing for over 15 years and most recently as Head of Computing at the Wells Blue School.
