Downside pupils commended

Eleven Downside pupils attended the recent BISMUN (the Bath International Schools’ Model United Nations) conference, hosted at Kingswood School.

Pupils were representing the delegations of China and Poland in 7 different committees, including the Middle East Committee, the Political Committee and Health Committee. New and experienced delegates debated global solutions to many of the problems the world faces today, such as the migration crisis in Europe, the situation in Syria, cyber warfare, dementia, climate change, and many others.

Downside’s China delegation was commended for its excellent contribution to the event. Marie-Gabrielle Williams was commended for her role as Delegate of China in the Human Rights Committee. Elsa Cody and Felix Hobbs were highly commended for their roles as Delegates of China and Poland, respectively, in the Environment committee. Freddie Hobbs was also highly commended for his role as Delegate of China in the Security Council.

Congratulations to all pupils who took part in this conference for their valuable contributions to the discussions.
