Downside Leavers’ Ball 2017
Our Upper Sixth Form pupils joined friends, family and staff to celebrate the end of the academic year, on Friday 30th June. With a circus theme, guests were greeted by theatrical performers, juggling and on stilts, upon arrival at the drinks reception.
Everyone enjoyed the themed menu consisting of a ‘Corn Dog’ starter (Duck Liver, orange & salted pretzel parfait), ‘Beef Burger’ main (Fillet Steak on toasted brioche with cheddar mash), before ‘The Collapsed Big Top’ (Popcorn panna cotta, toffee apples, strawberry marshmallow and burnt brownie)…delicious! There was dancing and a live band before a dazzling fire performance at 9.40pm.
Huge thanks goes to Mrs Harwood for her help in assisting Mrs Fry in the organisation of this year’s event (which included bringing flowers on the day from Covent Garden to ensure they were as fresh as possible!), and to pupil, Heloise Isola, who provided the colourful artwork for the seating plan, menus and invitations.
