Downside fencers compete!

Three young Downside fencers have competed in the South West Fencing Competition this term following a period of training at school. Two of the pupils only began learning the sport at the start of the academic year, having been introduced to the sport whilst taking part in the Third Form Carousel.

Fencing is a growing sport at Downside which has the support of two fantastic coaches who are both involved with Bath Swords, one of the largest Fencing clubs outside of London.  Rob Bruniges, our Head Coach has competed at the Summer Olympics on three occasions and is a former World Junior Foil Champion.

Our Fencers were:
Ivan Boas Syed
Barney Sharifi
Alfred Wong

All of our competitors excelled themselves, they all enjoyed the occasion and are looking forward to developing their skills during the School Club Fencing sessions.
