Residential Training Camp

Downside’s Sports Department welcomed 32 boys and 5 Academy coaches from Bath Rugby for a 2-day residential training camp, this week.

The most talented U15 Rugby players from Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset attended in preparation of forthcoming tournaments against other Regional Premiership Academies, and the annual RFU National Academies Festival at Harrow School in May.  Everyone involved in the residential course appreciated the opportunity to spend so much quality time together, building greater team cohesion, unity and understanding  ahead of such challenging fixtures.

The players and coaches made full use of Downside’s excellent sporting facilities during their stay and thoroughly enjoyed our famous Benedictine hospitality. This U15 camp followed the tremendously successful Bath Rugby Academy U16 training course Downside School hosted in March, as they prepared for the BMW Regional Academies Festival held at Wellington College over the Easter break, where 400 of the most talented players were aiming to be selected into the England U16 side.

Downside School is honoured to work in partnership with and support Bath Rugby Academy; further evidence of the ambition and aspiration of Downside Sport under the leadership of our Director of Sport Mr Richard Jones, supported by our Head of Rugby, Mr Mike Baxter.
