The Downside School CCF celebrated its centenary in summer 2009 and the School is proud of its strong military ties.
All Third Form pupils are expected to join the CCF for at least part of their first year and to participate in adventure training, leadership and team-building activities. Many senior pupils remain in the CCF, and are regularly awarded Army Scholarships; others leave but continue to develop similar skills through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award schemes and Ten Tors expeditions.
The Downside CCF Band and Pipe-band plays at School occasions as well as representing Downside in local Remembrance Day parades, and at other events.
