A day pupil is as much part
of life at Downside as a boarder. He or she belongs to
one of the seven houses, and may join in all the extra-curricular,
evening and weekend activities available to boarders.
Many, in particular, choose to stay for Preparation.
Day pupils may choose to stay occasional nights in the
School. The charge for this is £44 per night (34.50 for
Plunkett House), which includes supper and breakfast,
but the School cannot guarantee that a place will be
available.
The School day runs from 8.25
am until 6.10 pm on weekdays (4.45 pm for Plunkett House),
and from 8.20 am until 12.05 pm on Saturdays or until
after games commitments.
Downside offers a minibus service to and from Bath, Shepton
Mallet, Frome and surrounding villages, details of which
may be obtained from the Registrar.
