Tao Nguyen came to Downside
in September 2008 for an initial year of seminary formation
and English language training. Tao lived with and participated
fully in the life of the novitiate: working, reading,
cleaning and praying with the novices under the novice
master, Father David. It quickly became apparent that
Tao’s talents in mechanical engineering, not to mention
electronics, IT, woodwork, gardening and window cleaning
could be put to good use at Downside! Tao epitomised
the ‘cheerful giver’ envisioned by St Paul in the unhesitating
generosity with which he applied himself to the monastic
life at Downside.
The community wishes Tao
every blessing at his seminary in Oslo and continues
to pray for him.
