PLAINCHANT MUSIC FORUM

The Plainchant Music Forum is a group of people, mainly monks and nuns, who are closely and actively involved in the singing of plainchant and the appreciation of its contribution, both musically and spiritually, to the Liturgy. It was formed to promote a love of the chant, in the light of the modern understanding of the manuscripts represented in the new editions of the music published by the abbey of Solesmes. Seventeen participants gathered here to sing and to study Plainchant from the 11th to 14th May.

In addition to their participation in our Office and Mass, Dom Xavier Perrin, Prior of Sainte-Anne de Kergonan in Brittany, gave a number of talks on the use of St Paul in the chants of the Gradual, looking carefully at the musical interpretation of the spirituality of those texts.
