In-service training is
becoming a fashion for us monks too! So to complete
the holiday period, the Abbot arranged for a study
day on Church maintenance led by Sarah Crofts of the
Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. The
afternoon culminated in a tour of the building studying
it from an architect’s point of view, and with particular
attention to the gutters and drains: a field day for
geologists and engineers, a completely new approach
to history for those of us trained in the humanities.
