Buildings at Downside live
many lives in the course of their history. St Cecilia’s
was named because it was formerly the Music school.
Prior to that it had been the Bursary. Originally it
was known as the Dairy (though it is hard to think
how cows could have got in).
Now it has been redecorated
and equipped to serve as an infirmary for the monastic
community when they need more sustained nursing attention.
It was formally blessed by the Abbot at the end of
the Retreat.
Sr Rose is photographed
with the team of staff who will assist her.
