‘All guests who present
themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself
will say: I was a stranger and
you welcomed me’ (Rule
of St Benedict, 53:1)
It was with St Benedict’s
words in mind that the community decided to develop
a new pastoral centre and bookshop. We hope that the
new development will aid both our reception of guests
and our work in the parishes we serve. The new bookshop
will be larger than the old one and thus will be able
to stock a more comprehensive selection of books for
Catholic readers: a much needed resource for the south
of England.
The new pastoral centre
will be located on the same site as the old bookshop,
with the neighbouring, previously unused, buildings
being renovated to provide extra space.
The Abbot blessed the site
of the new centre at the beginning of the construction
work and we hope to welcome the first visitors to the
centre before the end of the year.
Please join the community
in praying for the successful completion of this project.
