Downside Abbey has opened
a new Pastoral Centre and Bookshop. The new centre
is ideal for quiet retreats and meetings or a browse
for religious texts and objects. The café, with outdoor
terrace, provides coffee and cake and the shop sells
liturgy and scripture books for adults and children,
as well as religious icons, rosaries and statues. There
is a large meeting room, prayer room and private reflection
room on the first floor with a lift for those who find
the stairs difficult.
The centre is open throughout
the week:
Monday - Friday: 9.30am – 12 Noon & 2.00pm –
4.00pm
Saturday: 9.30am – 12 Noon
Sunday: 11.00am (after Abbey Mass) – 12 Noon
