Downside Abbey has
a rich tradition of publishing since its foundation
in Douai - with specialism in Biblical exegesis,
Philosophy, Theology and Ecclesiastical History.
This site specialises in Ecclesiastical History
– from Medieval Monasticism to Modern historiographical
criticism.
Over the next few
years, Downside Abbey will be publishing several
major works including Downside Abbey Architectural
History (Merrell, London, 2010), The Monastic
Garden (tbc., 2010) and Essays on Benedictine
Monasticism (tbc., 2010). The South Western Catholic
History journal has been re-launched: Dom Aidan
Bellenger’s, Benedictine Education: a Historical
Perspective (SWCH, Occasional Papers 1) and his
edited collection of essays, Glastonbury (SWCH,
2009) are now in print and available for purchase.
Most of the SWCH (back issue) series is available
for purchase and a full list of publications
can be provided upon request.
