2017 GCSE results

Pupils at Downside School are encouraged to reach beyond their academic expectations, and this year the Fifth Form pupils have produced a set of GCSE results to inspire even the most ambitious.

An impressive 78% of all grades were awarded at A*/B, with almost a quarter of grades at A* standard.

As a school that refuses to shy away from the more challenging courses, it is pleasing to note impressive results in Physics (71% A*/A grades), History (63% at A*/A), and Maths (53% at A*/A). The Modern Foreign Languages department were thrilled with an 82% A*/A result for GCSE Spanish, bucking the national trend.

Dr James Whitehead, Downside’s Head Master, has commented “This was another cracking set of results for a hard-working year group who have benefited from the culture of aspiration we have developed at Downside.”
